Jenny landed in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on a mission to put ‘The Future of Food is Female’ movement at the heart of the world’s biggest annual climate event.
“I am here at COP for the ‘The Future of Food is Female’ movement we have started to empower women all over the world to get on board with changing the food system,” she said. “And we are focusing on how we can elevate women’s leadership in the future of food.”
It is Jenny’s first COP and one thing she says has pleased her is seeing that food is now “officially on the COP agenda”.
“There are so many people here now who understand how important food is to the climate crisis: 20% of all emissions are from animal agriculture and to bring that topic to the world’s leading climate conference is so important.”
And looking ahead to next year’s COP28 in Dubai, Jenny is already #ACopHalfFull on the potential impact it can make.
“We know that 50% next year they want to focus on food,” she added. “So it is our opportunity to seize the moment and talk about how we can transform food systems to one that is kind, sustainable and just.”
